I made Lydia some baby legs! They're leg warmers for babies.
I found a super easy tutorial on Pinterest. I used some socks of mine that had holes. All you do is cut off the foot part and sew around the bottom with a zigzag stitch, and viola! Instant baby legs!
Well, it was easy except for one part. My sewing machine jammed up, so I took them to my parents' house and used my mom's sewing machine. I need to figure out how to fix my machine now.
What have you been crafty with lately?

Splish Splash
Splish Splash
Splish Splash, Lydi's taking a bath,
All upon a Thursday morning.
Rub-a-dub she's a-scrubbing in the tub,
Just so she can get nice and clean.
Oh we'll wash her face and wash her hair,
And we'll get those creases everywhere.
Oh, oh, oh, splish splash, Lydi's taking a bath,
Everybody knows it's a party over there.
Happy bath time!

Bucket List
I'm pretty sure we all have a "bucket list" of sorts, whether you realize it or not. Just wanting to accomplish something is sort of like having a bucket list.
I have a bucket list for what I want to accomplish some time in the future. Keep in mind that some of these items on my list are never going to happen. Others may happen, and if a certain few don't happen, I'll be pretty disappointed.
So, here it is, in no particular order:
-Live to see my grandchildren
-Have another child or two . . . or three
-Learn to tune a piano
-Own a baby grand piano
-Own a house big enough to fit a grand piano
-Learn to reupholster furniture
-Travel to Europe
-Perform on Broadway - it's a long-shot and probably will never happen
-Learn to play guitar
-Get another college degree - I'm not sure what I want to do yet, but I want a degree that will actually do me some good (I have a degree in dance, and I can't do much with it.)
-Have a career when my kids are all school-age
-Be an involved parent
-Learn self-defense or karate . . . or something similar
-Remodel and decorate an entire house (old house, of course) and put it in a home show
-Get lasik eye surgery - um, I'm terrified of this one
-Write a novel or two, and get it published - also terrifying
-Have the hang-out house for the kids when they're teenagers
-Raise my kids to be good people
-Have a 50th anniversary with my hubby
-Go on a mission with my hubby
-Buy my dream home
There will probably be more added later, but this is what I have so far.

What is on your bucket list?
Lydia-Loo
Call me weird, but I'm constantly singing to my baby, resulting in making up my own songs, or rather, my own words to existing songs.
Here is a song about Lydia to the tune "Winnie the Pooh."
Deep in the Welling house she dwells,
With her mother, and father, too.
She'll smile at you when you talk to her.
She's beautiful, Lydia-loo.
Lydia-loo, Lydia-loo,
Chunky little monkey with big blue eyes.
She's Lydia-loo, Lydia-loo,
Silly, little, pretty, baby girl.
Well, there you go. I have a few more. I think I posted one a couple months ago about pushing (potty humor). I guess I'll post more as I come up with them, mainly so I don't forget them. I know they're silly, but silly is good when you have kids, right? Ha ha!

Goals, Not Resolutions
There hasn't been much to update lately. Well, except for Lydia updates, but are you getting sick of those? It seems like 90% of my posts are about Lydia now. I'm sure you understand. I'm with her ALL the time. And I love it!
So, real quick, here are a few milestones she's reached. She has rolled over from front to back - this made me feel like she's growing way too fast. She laughs on command about 65% of the time - such a silly girl. She now blows raspberries - just started yesterday, and is stinkin' cute. She almost sits by herself. Every once in a while she'll figure out the tri-pod stance, and balance for like five seconds before she starts to tip, but she's getting close! She's also figuring out the first stages of cause and effect. She loves to pull the handle to her bouncy chair that makes it sing to her. The look on her face is priceless. She flashes me a proud smile every time. Also, her new favorite game is Peek-a-Boo. She also loves dancing, especially when Lance or I do a quick, deep bounce with her in our arms. That usually gets her giggling. So, that's what she's been up to.
In other news, Valentines Day was awesome! We celebrated by going to Zhang's Chopstix for dinner, with Lydia tagging along. She was an angel and slept the entire time. Then, we went for a short drive to the neighborhood we eventually would like to live in some day. When we got home, we watched Pride and Prejudice. Lance was VERY nice letting me watch this.
We also went to a cabin with some friends this past weekend. It was the first time Lydia slept away from home. She did awesome! She took great naps and slept about the same as she usually does. She was also very happy, which made us very happy. We all had a blast!
Also, I got more piano students! I now have six students. That's enough to hold a recital! I'll probably wait until April or May, but I think it will work.
What I really wanted to post about today, was some goals I'd like to accomplish. I decided to wait until now to post them, because I don't want to think of them as resolutions. Resolutions are usually broken or forgotten about by this time or early spring, so I'm focusing on making them goals, so that I can feel like I accomplished something, and not like I'm doing them just to act like the rest of the world.
So, here goes!
1 - EAT HEALTHIER - Lance and I don't have the best eating habits. Our meals are full of good things, but not quite as good as I would like. We also like a lot of unhealthy treats. We both have diabetes in our families, so we'd like to prevent it before it gets too late, and starting now would be the best decision, and it would make us feel better all-around.
- GAME PLAN - Buy healthier items such as fresh fruits and veggies (they're so expensive, we usually pass them up, but we think it's worth it to get the nutrients). Drink more water so that we can stay hydrated and so that we'll feel fuller between meals and not go for the fattening, sugary treats as much.
2 - LESS COMPUTER TIME - This is a hard one. I feel like I'm on the computer ALL day long. It doesn't help that the computer is on the main floor in Lydia's room. It's on all day, and I always have Facebook up. Honestly, this post isn't helping, either, but I feel like if I write these goals down and share them with other people, I have a better chance of accomplishing them.
- GAME PLAN - When the family room gets finished (only a few more weeks is the estimated finish time), the computer will be harder to access for me, and I won't be around it all day. It will be less of a temptation. But for these next few weeks, I think I'm going to try to focus on my house, and snuggling with Lydia while I still can, and maybe that will distract me from the ultimate distraction that is the internet.
3 - EXERCISE MORE - I don't want to exercise to lose weight. I'm happy with my weight right now. I want to exercise to be healthy. I have very poor cardiovascular health, now that I'm not constantly dancing (sure, Lydia and I will have mini dance parties, but it's not the same). Also, while I may be down to pre-pregnancy weight, I still have a little flab in the belly area. I'd like to tone that up again.
- GAME PLAN - More dance parties with Lydia (ha ha!) Less computer time should help. Switch it up. One day, do Zumba. Another do Yoga. When it gets warmer I plan to go for walks with Lydia in her stroller. Anybody in my ward want to be my walking buddy? Basically, have a set time to exercise.
4 - ORGANIZE MY HOUSE - My house is probably the most unorganized mess you've ever seen. Sure, my living room usually looks great, but the rest of the house is a cluttered mess. I honestly feel like a hoarder. I think that both Lance and I have a slight hoarder mentality. We like to keep things for sentiment, and while I see all these amazing projects done on Pinterest with boxes, jars, and other containers, it's hard to keep up, especially with a little one who loves my attention.
- GAME PLAN - Go room by room and organize, purge, etc. Get the necessary organizational items to hold things we keep in a neat/pretty way. This may not be able to start until the family room is finished, due to temporary overcrowding in all the other rooms with stuff that goes in the family room. Also, scan papers of sentiment so the real thing can be recycled or thrown away. *Note to self: get new scanner. Ours decided not to work any more.
5 - MORE SERVICE - I feel like sometimes I focus too much on myself. Life is hard, and so many things take up our time, but is it really that hard to do something for someone else? I know I appreciate it when someone does something nice for me. I also know that it makes me feel good to do something nice for someone else, so I should just do more of it. Instead of the occasional good deed, I'd like to do at least one thing for someone outside of my immediate family every day.
- GAME PLAN - "See a need, fill a need." I know this quote was on "Robots" for inventing, but it works for service as well. I'm always seeing comments on facebook about how friends are struggling or having a bad day. While my comments of encouragement are a start, and will work once in a while, why don't I do something special for them, like take over dinner or even just a treat? Or, I could watch their kids while they run to the store quick or have time to clean their house. Or something like that.
I have tons more goals, but I think that focusing on five right now is a good start. It's overwhelming to have too many goals at once. Also, since I've shared my goals, if you could help me out by asking me about my progress, that would be awesome!
What are some of your goals?

Lydia at 4 Months
Can you believe Lydia is 4 months old? I sure can't!
Well, that's sort of a lie, because when you look at her, she looks at least 4 months. But I can't believe it's been four months since she was born. So, here are the stats we got at the doctor today:
Length: 25 1/2 inches (90th percentile)
Weight: 14 lbs 3.5 oz (70th percentile - I would have thought higher, but I guess she's not as much of a chunk-monkey as we thought, ha ha!)
Head circumference: 42.4 cm (85th percentile)
She's probably going to be tall and skinny like her daddy. I'm sure I'll still be the short one in the family, ha ha!
She totally rocked her check-up! She got two pokes of vaccines, and she didn't cry until the second one. What a champ! She has achieved all of her developmental milestones for four months. She even impressed the pediatrician with a few things. (She sleeps 8-10 hours uninterrupted at night - I know, I'm the luckiest mommy ever! She also started rolling over two days ago - she surprised us all with that one!)
She has been laughing for a couple of weeks. Oh my goodness, it is the cutest thing ever! I've been waiting for this ever since I found out I was pregnant!
She also has the cutest personality. When she wakes up in the morning, she will tell stories for about 10-15 minutes before she fusses. I just listen while I'm in bed via monitor. It's so funny!
She's also one of the happiest babies I know. She loves it when you talk to her. She'll even smile through her cries. It's funny to see her go from angry/grumpy baby to smile, and back to grumpy, all in a split second.
I'm so happy that Lydia is growing the way she should! I really am the luckiest mommy in the world!

A Homeowner's job Is Never Done
Okay, so maybe you remember, or maybe you don't, but we're currently remodeling our family room. Yes, the computer is still in Lydia's bedroom, but we're working on that.
The good news is, we're making progress. Tons of progress! So much progress that you can actually see the progress now! Wow, did I say "progress" enough times? Ha ha!
So, the reason it has been taking so long: behind the scenes work is very, VERY extensive. Old houses have a lot of updates that need to be done. For example, knob and tube wiring is dangerous, so any of that sort of wiring that you uncover, you must replace with lovely, new wiring. And, someone in this house a long time ago thought it was a good idea to have splices in the middle of a wall with no box. Naughty, naughty. We also rerouted pipes and ducts. (By "we" I mean Lance and any helpers he gets from time to time, of course. I just hang out with the baby all day.) Oh, and he had to frame the entire room, because, also in an old house, the walls are pretty skewed. On the outer wall, it was just panelling on the cement. We also uncovered the crawl space (gross), and the rest of the walls were crooked. So, as much fun as the Dr. Seuss look is, we wanted to do things right, so that required re-framing everywhere. Oh, and we moved a doorway. So, pretty long list of things before the real fun happens.
The past couple of weeks have been a lot of fun to see happen. Drywall went up, and a lot of painting is done! It actually looks like a room instead of an entrance to the creepy, crawly wonderland that is the crawl space (shudder).
This week, Lance is finishing up the paint and getting ready for a major reno' day with family, doing the drop-ceiling. It's been a couple years since we've had a ceiling in there. We've seen the joists for so long that I might be a little claustrophobic with an actual ceiling. It will be awesome, though. I'm so excited!
After this weekend, we'll have to finish the doorway to the furnace room, put in base boards, and carpet. I'm sure I'm missing something, because there always seems to be something new to add to the list, but it's getting so close! I can't wait for Lydia to have an actual room to herself! And I can't wait to get the office clutter and other clutter organized in the new and improved family room!
I don't have pictures. Sorry, but I want the big reveal to be a surprise. But let me tell you, you'll love what we did with the under-the-stairs space. Lance definitely rocked that space!
Then, on to the next reno'... (sigh) A homeowner's job is never done...
So, what other renovations do we have planned? Well, we'd like to carpet the bedroom downstairs. Right now, there are disgusting, linoleum tiles glued onto the cement in there, so it's not very cozy. And I might convince Lance to paint the walls, because the faux wood panelling look is just yucky.
We're planning on doing the basement bathroom next. I'm super psyched because I get to choose the wall color! With Lance's approval, of course, but I've already run some ideas past him, and he's on board.
We're also hoping to get new counter tops in our kitchen, just for that wow factor for when we actually do sell our house. It will look like a gourmet kitchen, even though it's still pretty small, but with dark, new counter tops, our white cabinets with glass doors, and our recently refinished hardwood floors, it will be gorgeous!
So, what are your renovation/dream home plans like?
