Pause!!

Wow, can time just pause for a minute?  My baby is growing too fast!

I think she's hitting a growth spurt.  Why?  Because she naps more than usual, and last night, she slept for almost 11 hours uninterrupted.  She entirely skipped the 9 hour and 10 hour range, and skipped straight to 11.  It was luxurious, but I was a little worried.  I had to wake her up to feed her.  However, I should not have been so worried, because she was ecstatic when she woke.  This kid is amazing!

She has also made another huge discovery!  She has discovered how to use her hands!  She has these little link toys, and has learned how to pick them up by herself.  I sometimes hang them on her bouncy chair, and when she pulls them or puts them in her mouth, the music will start.  The first couple times it startled her, but then she understood that she was the one doing it.  After a while, when the music would start, she would flash me a proud smile.

I've also noticed that she drools . . . a lot.  Is it too early for her to start teething?  She's not ornery or running a fever, but her hands are constantly in her mouth, and the front of her is constantly drenched.  I hope those teeth don't poke through until she's at least 6 months.  Otherwise, it will be a long few months for me, nursing her.  Ouch!

I love seeing her grow, but really, can we hit a pause button or something?  Why can't these first few months of her life on the outside go by as slowly as they did when she was on the inside?

Living Room Facelift

Hey, guess what!  I did another project!  It's taken me a while to get used to my new schedule, or lack thereof (we're working on that), so I haven't had much time for projects.  The very little time I'm not adoring my daughter, I'm usually cleaning, trying to get caught up (the need for cleaning never ends).  But this week has been very different.  Lydia has actually had a few naps during the day that aren't less than 20 minutes. 

So, I gave my living room a facelift. 

I was kind of getting sick of the dark red curtains, so I got some green bed sheets (Christmas present) and made them into curtains.  It's so easy to make a panel.  All I did was take out the thread on the tiny panel part at the top of the sheet to make a way for it to go onto the curtain rod, and viola!  Instant curtain panel!

 

This is how I did the curtain for the huge side window of the living room/dining room.  I just tied a ribbon around two parts of the panel.  I've always been a fan of the swag look.

I also decided to make a slipcover for my couch cushions, because honestly, my last attempt at covering them was disaster.  The seams were horrible!  So, instead of covering them individually, I made a long slipcover to go around both of them, and the sides aren't closed, so I didn't have to worry about crooked seams, or having them in the wrong place.  I absolutely ADORE the fabric I found!  I got it at Hancock Fabrics for $9.00/yd (I splurged to get what I really wanted).  I have enough left over to cover either a storage box, a throw pillow, or make a table runner.  I haven't decided what I want to do yet.  Decisions, decisions.

One more thing left.  The new color palette is green and blue, so the orange chair doesn't really match, but we got rid of the couch that I slip-covered in light blue a couple years ago, but I saved the slip-cover, so I put it on the chair.  I was originally going to resew it and tailor it to the chair, but I'm too lazy right now, so maybe one day I will, but for now, it's just nicely tucked, and it works fine.

I love my new living room!  Let's see how long it stays this way...

3 Months

What!?  Lydia is 3 months old already?  She really needs to slow down!  She is such a wonderful girl.  I can't imagine a better baby.

So, you know how she was sick with RSV?  Well, she still coughs every once in a while (mostly when she's barely waking up, or something) and she needs to get cleaned out two or three times a day, and once in the night . . . so much better than once every hour!  So, not 100%, but pretty darn close.  Anyway, I thought she was super happy while she was sick.  She smiled tons!  But starting on Sunday, she was purely blissed out.  I'd forgotten exactly how happy she normally is.  I love this kid!

I know this comes with the territory, but she is growing out of some of her clothes.  Sad day!  I'm super exited for her to be in some cute 3-6 month clothes, but I'll miss those 0-3 month outfits.  I guess I'll just have to have another baby.  Ha ha!  Not too soon, though.  We want to soak up the alone time we have with Lydia, and maybe get her walking before we have another one.

I weighed and measured her today, and here are the stats:

13.1 lbs (11 lbs 12 oz at 2 months)
23 inches long (same as 2 months - I could have measured wrong, because I'm sure she's longer)

She's rocking her tummy time!  She still gets irritated, but it takes a longer amount of time.  It also helps that she got a tummy time mat from Grandma Laura.  She loves looking at the bright colors.  She'll laugh every once in a while.  She has a really good attention span.  She LOVES to talk and sing, and especially loves it when you talk or sing back.  She loves dancing with Mommy, and gets a super big smile on her face when she sees herself dancing in the mirror.  She gets super excited when someone walks in the room.  She'll smile, squeal with delight, and move her arms and legs excitedly.

She's at such a fun age!  We love this girl so much!
