Christmas Bliss

This past week has been pretty busy for us with some fun Christmas parties.

Wednesday, we went to Lance's work party. We went to one of his co-worker's houses and had a pot-luck dinner. We signed up to bring a dessert, so I made snickerdoodle blondies (the recipe is on my recipe blog, scrumptiouslysatisfying.blogspot.com. They were a hit! There was also a white elephant exchange at the party. Some people give good gifts, and some bring funny/not-so-good gifts. We brought a mixture of both. Our good gift that we brought was popcorn, root beer, and Mike & Ikes. Our funny gift was IBC rootbeer bottles filled with water. Lance put on it that it was Northern Utah Bottled Water. It was pretty funny. The person who got it at first thought it was really root beer, and everyone commented on how it was a really good gift, but then she saw the description, and said, "Wait a minute!" Then she read the description. Everyone laughed. Lance received a pretty funny gift, and I received a good gift. My gift was a pack of orange sticks and a four pack of feather coasters that you put on fancy glasses, like wine glasses or goblets. They look pretty cool. Lance's gift was a "Mantard." A Mantard is unitard for a man (or so the package said.) It was really just a pair of stretchy, pink, sparkly pants. Everyone became hysterical as he opened it. The party was a blast, and I was able to get to know a lot of his co-workers. It's nice to put a face to who he is talking about when he talks about work.

Lance wrapped his Northern Utah Bottled Water. It wasn't very pretty, so it wasn't chosen very quickly.

This is one of my feather coasters doing its job. I think it's super cute!

This is the Mantard. Here is what the box said: "Thousands of satisfied customers can't be wrong! So many uses, so little time. The Mantard makes us feel slim and sexy. It is so comfortable I forget I am wearing anything at all." Those quotes had pictures of obese men wearing spandex. This quote is from Richard Simmons: "One of my all time favorites." Lance is proud to have received such a hilarious gift. :)

On Thursday, Lance's work also had another Christmas party, just for the employees, though. They went to lunch at Chuck-a-Rama. Then they went bowling. They were each put on a team, and the team who got last place had to buy donuts or something for everyone in the office. Lance loved his team, but he said that he would love being on anyone's team. He gets along with people very easily. His team got second to last place, so he barely didn't lose.

On Saturday, my family had our annual Christmas party. My brothers and sister and I, along with our spouses, pick names, and so do all of my nieces and nephews. Lance and I picked my brother, Dustin and his wife, Venessa. They also picked us. We gave them a gift certificate to the movies and a babysitting coupon, so that they could have a date night. They got us a bunch of fun games, Quiddler, Scrabble Slam, Monopoly Deal, Phase 10, and a Pictionary card game. We've already played a couple of them, and they are tons of fun! The party was at my sister, Andrea's house, and we had a pot-luck. I brought a taco salad. My parents brought a Chick-Fil-A platter of chicken nuggets. It was SO yummy! Of course, there were tons of treats! The Hansens can't have a party without lots of yummy treats! There are so many good cooks in my family, and we love to share our creations. We had fun hanging out with my family and seeing all the little ones (some of which aren't so little any more).

These are the games we got! We've got a lot of fun ahead of us! Anyone for a game night?

Kohl and Connor are best friends, and they love playing video games together. The DS is a little small to play together, but Connor is being so patient to wait his turn.

Venessa made this hat for Ashlyn. I think Ash looks really cute in it!

Brielle and Katie played so cute together! They love princesses, and so they dressed-up. They also like singing, so that is why Brielle is holding a microphone. They gave such a good concert to whoever would listen.

Oh! I almost forgot! I got a haircut! This picture isn't very flattering, but it shows how short it is. I cut my hair about every 1-2 years, and every time, the person cutting it asks me if I'm sure I want that much off. My hair grows really fast, so I really don't care if it is super short (just as long as I don't look like a boy). I think that the girl who cut it did a great job.

It's Beginning to Look Alot Like Christmas!

Hey everyone! It's that time of year again! My favorite holiday is coming up!!! Merry Christmas everyone!!! I hope that everyone is in the holiday mood. I sure am, and I can't wait! I haven't really done much to get into the Christmas mood other than decorate, but my living room is getting me excited.

Well, okay, I lied a little bit. Last night, Lance and I went to our friends' house and watched Disney's A Christmas Carol, you know, the one with Jim Carrey. I thought it was good, but Disney disappointed me a little with this one. It was CREEPY!!! Well, I know that the story is supposed to be creepy and scare selfish people into serving others, but come on! Disney is supposed to be for kids! I wouldn't let a child under ten watch this. I'm extremely surprised that I didn't have nightmares last night. There's this part where Marley's ghost's jaw dislocates. It was disgusting, and scary, and reminded me a bit of The Grudge (which gave me nightmares for over a year! I was eighteen when I saw it, and I had to climb into bed with my mommy that night!). Plus, the spirits were kind of creepy. The spirit of Christmas present was okay, but at the end of his part, it turned scary. So, in a nutshell, don't let your little children see it until you know they can handle ghost stories.

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes! Christmas!! Well, here are some pictures of my festive living room:

Thanksgiving Mishap

I forgot to write about this in my previous post! It was HILARIOUS, but I was really upset at the time.

For Thanksgiving, I volunteered to make a lemon meringue pie. So, I made it two days early so that it would have time to set up. Well, the morning after I made said pie, I realized I made a HUGE mistake! I forgot the lemon juice! How can it be lemon meringue pie if there is no lemon in there!?!?!? I was talking to Lance when I realized it. I was so upset that I stomped my foot and growled like a high-pitched tiger. I would have preferred to sound like a grizzly bear, but my voice is too high for that. So, I had to make another lemon meringue pie that day, which I wasn't a big fan of, because lemon meringue pies take FOREVER!!! You're supposed to let the filling boil on medium heat. It took an ETERNITY!!! But this time I remembered the lemon juice, however, I ran out of lemon juice, so I substituted lime juice. It ended up tasting great, but it didn't set up well. Seriously! How do you get lemon meringue pie filling to set up? I'm a pro at the meringue part, but the filling is always runny!

Anyway, so I ended up taking both pies to Thanksgiving. One was labeled "Lemon," and the other was labeled "Not Lemon." That was the joke for this Thanksgiving. It's okay, though. I like making people laugh. :)

November Festivities

It's been a while again. There hasn't been that much exciting stuff going on around here. Just my birthday, Thanksgiving, and Black Friday.

My birthday was fun! Lance made me breakfast in bed. Then, I went shopping to my favorite places. I didn't buy anything, but it was fun just to look. When Lance was done with work, he took me on a date. We ate dinner at Zhang's Chopsticks, and went to a movie (Inception). It was a fun date! I loved the movie, and the food was delicious! I got a fortune cookie, and my fortune said: "Good things come in small packages. One is coming to you." Well, the small package I was hoping for didn't come yet, but hopefully soon.

Birthday Dinner with Lance's family. I chose Chocolate Pudding Dessert YUM! There was also a Vanilla Pudding Dessert.

Lance gave me this dresser. It's not in full use yet, but hopefully soon!

We had cheesecake at my parents' house YUM!

Thanksgiving was fun. We went to my parents' house to celebrate. All three of my brothers were there, and so was my sister, with their families, which meant that all of my nieces and nephews on that side were there! I had fun looking at the Black Friday ads with my three-year-old niece, Brielle. She had her birthday two days before Thanksgiving, so she opened some presents. She is in the princess stage, so she got a ton of princess stuff.

Declan is so cute! Don't you love his Mohawk? The Belle doll is his big sister, Brielle's, but he likes to play with it too.

Brielle is being cheesy before opening her presents. She was super excited!

Paxton loves firetrucks! He used to call them fartefarts.

Black Friday isn't my favorite day of the year. I really don't like waking up early, so Lance got a couple of good deals without me. He got two 24 packs of batteries at Lowe's and a tent at Big 5. Later that day, we looked around at some places for fun. We were sort of looking at fridges, but we got a bathroom vanity with a sink basin at Home Depot instead. We weren't really in the market for that yet, but for only $39 how could we pass that up? We do plan on remodeling the basement bathroom sometime in the future, so now we have a head start.

Lance set up the tent in our living room for fun.

Something Lance has been waiting to do for a very long time is break our old windows. We got some of our windows replaced in our house last winter, and he saved the old ones so that he could break them. He loves being destructive. So here are some pictures of his joyful demolition.

Action shot of Lance shooting the window with a slingshot.

In the air shot.
